Around The World: The Azure Window & The Blue Hole, Gozo Island, Malta

The Azure Window is a wonderful natural rocky arch situated in Dwejra Bay on the west coast of Gozo, one of three major islands of the Maltese archipelago. It’s almost 30 meters high and it is getting more and more unstable as time passes. For this reason it’s absolutely forbidden to walk on top of the arch as long as passing under by boat. A Maltese guy said us that it is expected to collapse within 15 years. So these pictures will become a souvenir even more precious!
Just in front of The Azure Window is placed The Blue Hole. This is a 9-10 meters diameter hole that goes down by its entire size to about 20 meters and then shrinks and creates smaller tunnels that reach up to 45 meters in depth. Obviously it’s a great spot for diving.
